I am proud to announce a collaboration of Art and Activism with SAVE THE BAY
Famed Oceanographer, Jacques Cousteau, said,”The sea, once it casts its spell, holds one in its net of wonder forever”. Whether we sail upon her, walk her shores, interact with her waves…Mother Ocean offers us her Soul Wisdom, whether through her peace or her fury, she beckons us to be truly present.
Growing up in “The Ocean State”, it certainly describes my relationship with Mother Ocean. As a child my father took us to play in the waves and later to help him with clamming and fishing at the coast. Ocean was a place of wonder and exchange. I cane to appreciate Mother Ocean’s many moods. Subsequently, while studying art at URI, Sea and Sky became the almost exclusive focus of my paintings.
Now, I am returning to the expression of her many moods in my current work. A year ago, I had an accident which disabled my right arm and hand for close to 7 months. No sooner had I recovered the use of my hand and arm, I was laid up with a long recover from heart surgery. While recuperating, I returned to painting as part of my on going therapy. Capturing the wonder and moods of Mother Ocean has become a healing focus through the long cold Winter and chilly Spring. So, recently,I took a major leap forward to show my work publicly and to offer it for sale.
Now I am happy to announce a recent collaboration with SAVE THE BAY, whose mission is to preserve, protect and improve Narragansett Bay! A portion of sales from my work will be donated directly to Save the Bay. It’s a WIN-WIN! You receive a beautiful and Soul-filled expression of Mother Ocean to enjoy and 25% of the proceeds of the sale will be put to use to help preserve the delicate balance of life within the Oceans and the health of Narragansett Bay..
“We are at a unique stage in our history. Never before have we had such an awareness of what we are doing to the planet, and never before have we had the power to do something about that.” , David Attenborough
SAVE THE BAY :OUR MISSION IS TO PROTECT AND IMPROVE NARRAGANSETT BAY. “Our vision is a fully swimmable, fishable, healthy Narragansett Bay, accessible to all. Save The Bay is an independent, member-supported, nonprofit organization. We got our start as a grassroots organization in 1970, when a small group of concerned citizens came together to fight an oil refinery proposed for the shores of Tiverton. Their work began our legacy as the eyes, ears and voice for Narragansett Bay. Today we carry out our mission through three areas of work: advocacy, education, and habitat restoration and adaptation.”
